Office of the Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Department of W& CD & SW, Govt. of West Bengal organised an AwarenessProgramme on facilities/concessions provided to Persons with Disabilities by Transport Deppartment on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan on 7th August, 2017 at Karunamoyee Bus Stand, Salt lake, Kolkata from 10.30 am to 2.00 pm. The programme aimed at sensitizing the officials with the difficulties faced by the Persons with Disabilities in Public & Private Transport. Dr. (Smt) ShashiPanja, HMOS (IC), W & CD & SW Deptt. andSmt. RoshniSen, IAS, Secretary, Sri N.G. Hira, IAS, Addl. Secretary and Smt. PapiyaGhoshChowdhury, WBCS (Exe), Joint Secretary, Department of W& CD & SW witnessed the occasion.Vol- III of Quarterly Sphuran was also released in the programme.
300 persons with Disabilities, teachers, parents from 28 organisations participated in the programme and tied Rakhi to the Dignitaries during inauguration. PwDs tiedRakhi to the Police, members of bus syndicates, Bus drivers, conductors, Auto drivers, Taxi drivers to sensitize them with the difficulties faced by them in public & private transport.
