Observance of Deaf-Blind Awareness Day,2017Department of W & CD&SW observed Deaf-Blind Day, 2017 on the occasion of 137thbirth anniversary of Helen Keller on 29th June, 2017 at Minerva Theatre, Kolkata.

Bhutia, IAS, Member Secretary, West Bengal Commission for Women & Ex-officio Joint Secretary to the Govt. of West Bengal, Department of W &CD& SW was present in the programme. Smt. Ranu Bhattacharya, WBCS (Exe.)Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, West Bengal welcomed the dignitaries and participants.
Smt. RumaChatterjee, Director, Project Deaf Blind, Society or the Visually Handicapped, Kolkata was a Resource person and discussed Emerging issues regarding Deaf Blindness. Dr. Suchandra Mukherjee, Department of Neo Natology, SSKM Hospital discussed about Deaf Blindness Causes and remedy in respect of clinical observation.

Larsen & Toubro Ltd, Kolkata distributed 7 Laptops to students with special needs for improving the quality their education under Corporate Social Responsibility.
Students with hearing & visual impairment from various organisations participated in Cultural programme.
