The Day was observed on 2nd January, 2015 simultaneously at Rotary Sadan and Natmandir, Shyam bazar, Kolkata by organizing Panel Discussion on Importance of Braille in present era, Essay Competition in Bengali Braille in four groups, Cultural Programme by Persons with Visual Impairment. Educational kit along with White Cane was distributed to 200 students with disabilities by NIVH (Regional Centre), Kolkata under ADIP Scheme and Govt. of West Bengal under Prosthetic aid Scheme. Prizes were given away by Dr. Shashi Panja, Hon‟ble Minister of State (IC), Department of Women Development and Social Welfare and Department of Child Development.
